Theory on light and materiality

Built in contrast to the characteristic drab, dull and depressing, concrete, creases made into the material resonate with the shards of light. Built using an honest palette, comprising off-form concrete, luminous aluminum waves, timber panelling and textured masonry render.

Glimmering fragments of light with appropriate glare control —like shards of ice or crystal—lending the space a serene atmosphere reminiscent of light on a cool winter day. Like a living creature freely roaming about, the transition of spaces has been created for a more welcoming environment, making them appear fresh, open and spacious.

Unlike office buildings, ugly patios and unfinished basements, a cozy cave maintains a strong sense of connectedness where the dynamic form and light whirl through the air and intertwine and create an architecture is is welcoming to those who inhabit it.
